Cinemagraphs with Rex & Phaykey
Rex and Phaykey got married on Sunday, congratulations!! They're such a lovely couple with a great sense of humour. It was a pleasure witnessing their solemnisation and covering their wedding.
I had a small collaboration with Happyphotopeople to produce a series of cinemagraphs for them. She was helping them with their pre-wedding shoot while I tagged along to experiment with this fascinating medium.
Such a good looking couple and I'm glad to have them as my first pre-wedding couple for cinemagraphs! They went along with all my suggestions and it was easy to direct them.
I have a mixture of looping motion either from environment (lalang, flowing water etc.) and their actions (first one on top). Granted, these are still very safe and easy cinemagraphs to make. I'll step up my game with the next shoot!
Along the way I learnt quite a bit about editing these cinemagraphs in Photoshop. Balancing the size and the duration of animation, knowing how much colour to let it so that the GIF size doesn't balloon, etc.
For long actions like this, I had to slice out every alternative video frame to cut the video by half. For some reason the jittery effect seems pretty cool, haha.
I've had mixed comments about this one. Some love it, some say it simply looks like a video looping. We had fun filming this through, haha
AFAIK, there's only one other photographer doing this in Singapore. Perhaps I should drop him a message to see if he's interested in collaborating. Shall see if I can think of any concept in mind.
I wish I could keep this blog more active, but it's a challenge managing all the various social media platforms. Do like my page for the latest updates!
